John Bosselman is currently an administrator in the San Diego Unified School District. Prior to that, John was the co-founder and Director of Innovation and Rigor at Latitude 37.8 High School in the historic neighborhood of the Fruitvale in Oakland, CA. Latitude leverages the city and broader Bay Area as the extended classroom. Latitude students work on projects that are grounded in coming to a better understanding of their community, while also being in service to the city they live. Students also take part in an extended learning program that brings them to over different work places during their high school career so that they can identify what is linked to their passion. Latitude was selected as a XQ Super School by the XQ Institute.
When John teaches he works on projects with his students and staff that turn the city of Oakland, and the Bay Area, into the extended classroom. Prior to joining Latitude, John was a long-time teacher at High Tech High Chula Vista where he produced seven plays with his students, founded the ReVision Project, and worked to build out the school’s internship program. He also spent two years working in the United Kingdom at the Innovation Unit on Learning through REAL Projects, a school change initiative where he led the work developing project-based learning in over 30 schools.
